One Day Monoprinting Workshop

10am Meet and Greet. Stanpit Village Hall. Main Hall

162 Stanpit, Christchurch BH23 3NE

Morning session:

  • During the first part of the morning we will give a short demonstration of different methods of monoprinting including how to roll out ink and roll it onto the plate and utilise different markmaking techniques. How to make stencils and use layers to build up and create interesting prints.

  • For the rest of the morning we will experiment and play with these techniques as we start to predict outcomes and build up a body of prints.

30 minute lunch break approx 12.30 - 1pm.

Afternoon session.

  • We will spend the afternoon developing the techniques we've learned during the morning to broaden the range of outcomes.

  • By the end of the day you will have learned lots of techniques to create texture and depth and a little about the principles of colour and compostition.

  • You will leave at the end of the session with a good handful of beautiful and original prints.

The nature of monoprinting means that there is a lot of experimenting and happy accidents. This workshop is perfect for loosening up our creative brains and producing art through experiment and play. Most of the prints acheived will be rather more abstract than those made in more formal workshops such as linocut etc.
